Illium News: Illium is quickly becoming one of the most illustrious pleasure planets in the entire Milky Way Galaxy.
Illium is one of the newest asari colony-worlds, yet has required almost no terraforming what-so-ever, and has grown at a most remarkable and sustainable rate. With hundreds of cities now spread out evenly across every continent, and with every 'small town' being as high-tech, artistic, and well laid out as everyone in the Verse has come to expect from the intelligent and sophisticated asari, this is a must-see world not to be missed -no matter the cost of making the pilgrimage.

While nearly 100% of this world's population is asari (a blue-skinned, humanoid, all-female species), billions of tourists and other visitors (of more than a dozen other sentient, predominantly humanoid species) enjoy this flagship planetary hub of the asari interstellar empire every year.
Due to his tested and proven military backing of this humanoid species and all of its infrastructure, Lord Auzdein von Himmler has enjoyed a godlike status every time he has visited this world. With each visit, he has stayed for months, helping by providing his expertise and Inisfreean personnel as seasonal, contract liaisons. In exchange, the leadership of the Asari government ensures he has a virtually endless supply of their most beautiful and sensually-skilled asari sex slaves, which he typically purchases by the dozens, cloning and better engineering still dozens more. Illium is the world and (asari) people which best understands, and is most compatible with, Auzdein and his Inisfreean culture and code. It is a rarity for his semi-vacation visits to this world to not include daily and sometimes hourly 'quickie orgies', oftentimes enjoying them even during boardroom meetings and other formal events. Even the highest-ranking asari have enjoyed these sex rites with their most avid and fiercely loyal, human supporter and advocate.
This relationship, in short, translates to just one thing; any entity foolish enough to attempt an attack of any kind on Illium or any asari assets or interests would be quickly disintegrated by the teleporting, invisible, Space-faring fleets of Inisfreean warships and storm troopers.

Illium is a classic garden world developed to serve as entrepôt between the Terminus Systems and the Asari Republics. To abet this trade, the normally stringent customs laws of Council space on product-safety-proscribed materials and sapient trafficking are relaxed. Officially, Illium is not an asari world; it is colonized and operated by asari corporate interests. This gives it the same legal latitude enjoyed by the human corporate research enclaves of Noveria. Illium is one of the youngest asari colonies settled during the 7th Expansion Wave. The first child born on the world is only now reaching her middle age. The world is hot and massive; ground settlement is only possible at the higher polar latitudes. In more equatorial locations the population is housed in arcology skyscrapers to escape the heat of the surface.
Illium’s leaders were paranoid about keeping their fortunes, and were influential in both Terminus and Citadel space. They acquired a large defense fleet and a high number of fission weapons, which stand ready to fight at a moment’s notice from anywhere on the surface and in orbit.
A regional hub of asari commerce awash in riches, Illium is infamous for its abusive labor practices and legalization of nearly everything except murder. As such, Illium is the preferred production site for weapons and pharmaceuticals that would be illegal nearly everywhere else, made even more lucrative by legal indentured servitude. Among the biotics-related pharmaceutical producers is the Dantius Corporation, a rising star in galactic commerce.
Despite the dangers of its products, Illium is renowned for glamour, luxury, and safety (provided by near-total surveillance), making it a favored tourist destination. Countless celebrities maintain palatial estates on Illium and in its capital, Nos Astra. The sole obstacle to business on Illium is its extreme bureaucracy, tolerated only for its provision of security.
Regardless of the character of its economy, Illium's self-congratulatory media exalts its own society with the provincial arrogance of "new money", glorifying in "sexiest CEOs" and "ten richest residents" lists.
Being a commerce planet, Illium sees many new cultures and goods due to its proximity to the Terminus Systems. New visitors are advised to avoid signing anything due to the world's lax legal regulations, necessary in order to stay competitive with the Terminus Systems. As such, drugs are legal as long as they are labeled properly, and one can buy any kind of weapon, technology, or even indentured servants. At the same time, it is still an asari world and far from lawless. Very few quarians visit Illium as it does not allow the Migrant Fleet to enter the star system.
